Sodium Lignosulfonate Description
Sodium Lignosulfonate(Sodium Lignosulphonate)is lignosulphonic acid sodium salt,With Molecular formula C20H24Na2O10S2,Molecular Weight 534.502 g/mol.In yellow brown powder,soluble in water.
It is also used for construction, ceramics, mineral powder, chemical industry, textile industry (leather), metallurgical industry, petroleum industry, fire-retardant materials, rubber vulcanization, organic polymerization.

Sodium Lignosulfonate Application
1.Industrial Binder
Lignosulfonate working as coke powder binder
1.Mixing:geenerally 5% W/W to mix the binder and coke powder,even if the coke contends high of moisture .
2.Moulding into balls: make powder into balls by some water according to the moisture of coke powder .After moulding the ball could make shape even falling from 2m high,the strength is around 100kg/ball,without any chemcial additives.The tempreture can reach 1000 degree centrigrade.
2.Construction admixture
(1).Lignosulfonate superplasticizer dosage of cement content 0.20-0.30%, commonly used dosage is 0.25% water reduction of up to 9-11%. In the appropriate dosage when compared with the reference concrete strength increased by 15-20% 3 days, 7 days strength increased 20-30%, 28 days by 15-20%, long-term strength also increased.
(2).Without changing the water in the case of concrete( suggested ratio 0.65)1to increase the flow of concrete, improved work-ability.
3.In keeping concrete slump, the same intensity and the reference concrete, cement can save 8-10%, the use of one ton of lignosulfonate superplasticizer powder, can save 30-40 tons of cement.
3.Animal Feed additives
Despite the expanded awareness of sodium lignosulfonate potential in horticulture, there is still very little understanding of the potential in animal husbandry. In China, who successfully introduced acupuncture and their traditional herbal medicines to the West, have been utilising sodium lignosulfonate in the animal feed industry for over 25 years and they are passionate about the many benefits.
4. Dust suppressants
Lignosulfonates have also been used as dust suppressants. Lignosulfonates were sprayed onto dirt roads and became viscous as water evaporated during drying; this trapped dust and prevented air pollution from particulate. Lignosulfonates are better alternatives than other types of dust-prevention chemicals (i.e., calcium chloride) because they are more efficient. Lignosulfonates provide a better road-surface coverage and decreased maintenance requirements through improved surface drainage. Lignosulfonates are also nontoxic, noncorrosive, and biodegradable; these factors reduce their potential environmental impact compared with synthetic alternatives.However, a major disadvantage of the use of lignosulfonates in this area is their water solubility. In this case, lignosulfonates may leach from the surface of the road during heavy rainfall.
5.Flocculants
Flocculants are widely used to decrease the settling time of solutions/suspensions and/or to increase the amount of settled materials. Effective flocculants require good adsorption onto particles through both surface charge and molecular weight. Lignosulfonates and sulfonated lignin have long been exploited as flocculants.One study employed lignosulfonates to flocculate sulfur slurry used in copper heap leaching at a dosage of 0.2 wt % and improved its density from 40 to 67 %.The lignosulfonates used in this application did not interfere with other aspects of copper leaching.
